Fuji Test

It's review time!
This here is a showdown between the Fujifilm Finepix s5600 and the Finepix s5700. I will try to present the advantages and disadvantages of each. However, it is up to you to decide which one deserves the crown.
Name: FujiFilm FinePix s5600 Name: FujiFilm FinePix s5700 Resolution: 5.1 MP Resolution: 7.1 MP Description: The FP s5600 is a light-weight camera which works good in any environment due to the multiple image settings. The resolution is great and most details can be captured, with the help of the Macro function although the barrel sometimes causes a shadow, depending on the position of the light source. Although the display is small, the buttons are on the side so it is relatively easy to change a setting. The zoom poses a slight problem as you have to push the T (Tele) and W (Wide) buttons which may cause some discomfort. In addition, the AF light stands out too much so it can be easily touched with the finger when holding the camera. Furthermore, you can increase the performance of your camera by adding various filters to the 55mm thread. The downloading of the photos is an easy copy/paste matter so that it can be done by any 7 year-old. Description: The FP s5700 is an ideal camera for traveling photographers as it occupies a small amount of space. There is a wide array of picture modes to choose from (10 aside from the standard ones). Even the finest of details can be captured with the Super Macro function which allows clear macros up to 1 cm from the subject. The display is big, pushing the buttons even further but it works very well and makes the Eye View Finder rather useless. It can be turned on at the flick of a switch and instead of the classical on/picture view/off switch, we have the zoom switch which makes life easier when trying to zoom. Also, the camera can be bossted by adding various filters on the 53mm thread . The download procedure is very complicated as it requires the Windows picture wizard (unless you want to try your luck with the software provided). Design: 10 (The barrel provides a good grip point) Design: 8 (If you have slippery hands, the size of the camera will pose a problem) Resolution: 9 (The 5.1 megapixels speak for themselves) Resolution: 10 (The 7.1 megapixels speak for themselves) Macro: 6 (Unless you have a steady hand and are very good at zooming in, capturing elegant macros can be an ordeal) Macro: 10 (With this baby you can capture the finest of details: as close as 1cm from the subject) Software: 10 (Downloading the photos is a matter of drag and drop) Software: 4 (The worst thing about downloading is that you have to use the wizard which replaces the old CTRL-X/CTRL-V sequence) Overall: 8.75
This camera is very good for amateur photographers as the learning curve is very small (not as small as the LCD display, though). Aside from the ergonomical issues there is not much to complain about, here.Overall: 8
For those of you who fancy macro photography, I strongly recommend this model. It's wide display compensates for its lack of user-friendliness (the menus are a bit complicated, especially when switching to other picture modes).
Note that this article is subject to change as I will be conducting more tests with my two cameras.
